This guy was making MORE as a PT crossing guard than he did as a supervisor. He also made more than a sheriff’s deputy! This is an example of ridiculous waste in government-and people wonder why the public is losing faith in the republic.

This was a shame because the trooper was in his 60’s and only a couple months from retiring. The young ‘man’ who pulled the trigger took away a husband, father and grandfather from their family for his own selfish desires.
Capital Murder trials in Virginia, if convicted, lead to the death penalty. Having done jury duty before, I don’t envy the 12 who have to make the decision, but I hope this ‘man’ gets his just rewards for removing such a family man from this world.

A lot of people are asking if they should start their novel off with exposition and the answer is no! Do not take those first 5-6 precious paragraphs you need to catch a reader’s attention and waste them on useless narration. Do not put back story into them. In fact, you don’t have to write the back story in all at one time. Dribble it out! For example: I got an entire back story built for Talia, but I only let it out in drips and dribs over all of the novels with her. Plus, I’ll run a subplot that deals with something in her past that’s relevant to the current novel to help spread out the background. Keep in mind Stephen King’s quote on the subject:
“The most important things to remember about back story are that (a) everyone has a history and (b) most of it isn’t very interesting.”
So, don’t waste that valuable time on needless things.

In the interest of transparency, I have managed a Hardees’ before, which is a CKE brand. However, I never worked for CKE but for a franshisee.
Nothing in this article surprises me in the least. When the AFCA aka Obamacare was passed, I could see this coming. Of course people would be dropped to PT status (Even the State of Virginia is doing is) to prevent from having to provide insurance, because no fat cat is going to cut his or her money because of us. It’s that simple.
What makes me go “Do’oh!” is the fact that the people responsible for this say they couldn’t see this as a result. They say that they “thought that companies would be all for giving their employees insurance.” What planet have they been on? Of course it wouldn’t happen for what I said above.
That’s all I’m saying because I’ve promised to keep politics off my blog.

I guess what bothers me is that, yes, the big boys are raking in the money and are given all the blame, but not the politicians that helped cause the situation. They’re given a free pass while the ‘1%’s’ are attacked. Hello! ALL OF THE LEADERSHIP IN DC ARE ONE PERCENTERS. From the President right on down..none of them are average Joes.
And, if my writing career is highly successful, I may end up as one, but I refuse to rape my customers to get that money either. When I have books to buy, you, my readers, pay my paycheck and I’ll never forget that. In fact, it’s what I told people for years when in retail and food service management. “The customer’s pay your paycheck. If not for them, you wouldn’t have one.”

Expect self-serve kiosks at fast-food restaurants and more part-time workers as the Affordable Care Act continues rolling out, according to Andy Puzder, chief executive of CKE Restaurants Inc.
Also, don’t expect many more of CKE’s Carl’s Jr. restaurants to open in California, Puzder said in arecent interview with the Wall Street Journal.
The 62-year-old CEO has been a vocal critic of President Obama‘s signature healthcare law, pulling no punches about how it will affect businesses.

He told The Times earlier this year that he expects more businesses — including his — to hire part-time workers so they would be exempt from the healthcare law’s coverage mandates.
He expanded on that point in an article published in the Journal over the weekend.
He said his consultants have calculated that it would be cheaper to offer his workforce more expensive health-insurance plans than to drop them into state exchanges and pay penalties, according to the Journal. Currently, about 40% of his employees are part time.
He also said restaurants will probably turn to technology to deal with the healthcare law. “You’re going to go into a fast-food restaurant and order on an iPad or tablet instead of talking to a person because we don’t have to pay benefits for any of those things,” he said.
Puzder granted the interview to the Journal while he was in New York scoping out new sites for his restaurants. He said stringent regulations in California have dampened his appetite for expanding in the Golden State.
“Like many businesses, we love California and would love to build more restaurants,” he said. “California is not interested in having businesses grow.”
